JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Academic Readiness Instructor Status: Exempt

Reports to: Education Services Coordinator and Assistant Principal                    Effective Date: April 29, 2009

Position Description: The Academic Readiness Instructor will possess expertise and knowledge in the delivery of high quality scientifically based reading and math programs to provide accelerated or remediate instruction to students that have demonstrable need.

The Academic Readiness Instructor (ARI) is primarily responsible for providing on-going, high-quality interventions and differentiation using scientifically based reading and math assessment and intervention techniques to support student learning. Under the direction of the Education Services Coordinator and the Assistant Principal/ Principal and in conjunction with classroom teachers the ARI will assess students’ needs (based on student data and classroom observation), develop professional growth plans, and deliver ongoing, high-quality professional instruction and support.  ARI’s will make recommendations on how to best  accelerate or remediate based on standardized test results, teacher observation and/or outside professional academic evaluations using Response To Intervention (RTI) as a model.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with assessments at the school (Dibels, MAPS, i/LEAP, etc.).
  • Pull out groups for small group Reading and Math interventions.
  • Pull out groups for small group Reading and Math acceleration.
  • Collaborative planning with regular education teachers and track student data, identifying trends, and planning appropriate instruction and interventions.
  • English Language Learner (ELL) instruction.
  • Supplemental Classroom instruction in Social Studies and or Science.
  • Prepare forms, records, and reports as directed.
  • Attend meetings as directed.
  • Perform other duties that may be required.

Education, Certifications, and Work Experience: The Academic Readiness Instructor will possess a Bachelor’s Degree and/or Louisiana certification in Elementary Education.

Reports to: The Academic Readiness Instructor reports to the Education Coordinator and Assistant Principal.
